“What a waste,” I thought. So many tops came so close to being reversible front to back. “If only they added more fabric there, or created a cuter scoop.” So from my humble boat home in Santa Barbara, I drafted & cut the paper pattern for my new concept. Then up the mountain, my mom sewed the first sample.

Polyamide (also known as Nylon in the US) is quite obviously the best fabric for Swim & Activewear. Unfortunately, it is plastic. A manmade polymer manufactured through a chemical process that takes decades to decompose.

This fabric takes approximately 3 years to be eliminated from the planet.
Don’t worry, the decomposition process only starts when the garment is in the anaerobic environment of a landfill:)
